There is nothing I want more right now than to be able to stay home tomorrow, hiding in my bedroom, avoiding all media and pretending that I don't live in a country full of idiots.
Unfortunately, tomorrow I start my new job. So there's no chance of that happening. So tomorrow, I'm going to be cranky. I just thought I'd warn you.

I avoided all media on 9/11. I have friends who lost family members that day and it's just gross they way it's been turned into a hallmark card and a reaffermation of the stupidity of the American Gullible Public. Gross gross gross.
Hasn't anyone ever heard the words "Hiroshima" and "Nagasaki"? I'll admit I didn't learn anything about those in school, but my dad told me.
Anyway, Laura!!! How easy was it for you to move all your archives over to Moveable Type? I am thinking of doing the same thing because I moved my blog (!!!) to http://www.talula.net (hey everyone, update your links!) but moving the archives was really sucky and it's still not working right... since you are my Blogging Guru and Goddess, I thought perhaps you would have some Great Advice for me.
Congrats on the Macromedia job. I used to have a friend who worked there, his name's Mark and he had funny-colored hair. You can ask about him but I think he was fired or something. He made so much money he bought a house and then rented it out to his friends so he had money and could do whatever the hell he wanted. Mmmmm. Sure beats working in a cafe... but I guess you also have to have some of those high-end skills that are all the rage these days.
Glad you like Macintoshes. I just got into them recently. I don't know what I was thinking, all those non-Mac years. Stupid, stupid, stupid! :-)
Posted by: Talula McPeach on September 13, 2002 10:45 PMIt's pretty easy to convert everything over. Lots of steps, but once you get all the steps right it works like a charm. You have to have shell access at your new domain, though. If you don't, you can't use Movable Type. It's an install-on-the-server kind of thing.
Posted by: Laura on September 15, 2002 11:43 PMI have shell access... I just hope I can use my FTP program (Fetch) to change permissions and stuff because I tried it the "real" way (rwxrwxrwx) etc and got EXTREMELY frustrated and confused.
I guess the main issue will be whether or not I can follow directions. I guess we will soon find out! Thanks for the tip...
