pick one and stick with it

The inevitable comparisons are rolling in...

"You sound like the bastard child of Johnette Napolitano and the girl from The Camdens."

"I think you sound like an unholy mix between Siouxsie Sioux and Debbie Harry."

"You remind me a bit of early Chrissie Hynde."

"I can definitely hear that you listen to a lot of Robert Pollard."

"You sound kinda like the warbly girl from Sleater-Kinney."

So which is it? None of these people sound remotely alike. I can do impressions of each of them except maybe the Camdens girl, and I spent a year of my life doing so every week on karaoke night at TP's, back in Missouri. The point of my voice is that it sounds like none of them, that it's mine, wholly, that I'm not trying to sound like anyone else (even if I can do a mean Alanis Morrisette!).

Bee's been spending time mixing and remixing the demo tracks till they sound better. And they do sound better. I asked him if he was tired of listening to the songs over and over again yet. He's not. "Because they rock."
